The town of Cododgean has always been peaceful. Nestled just at the foot of Kiplan Forest, it's known as a quaint stop before heading into deeper campgrounds and hiking trails further north. But for René Carpenter, her hometown holds some of her most painful memories. Seven years ago her childhood best friend disappeared without a trace and after weeks of searching the town eventually gave up. Teens ran away all the time and the incident was brushed off as time went on. Yet the loss was something she never truly got over. Now a fresh graduate and single parent, René moves back home after college to hopefully get her life together for her young daughter.
…Then children go missing. Parents are found slaughtered in their homes. She came back looking for stability in her start at adult life, but now her daughter is in danger. Something is lurking in the woods, something that may give her the answers she's been seeking ever since that day seven years ago.
